California State Employee Is this You?
The California State Employee no longer has the security that once came with a state job. The California State Employee is under more stress as their paycheck shrinks and Governor Schwarzenegger is "under the gun" to balance a very unbalanced budget. There is talk of laying off thousands of you, the California State Employee, in an attempt to save the state billions in payroll expenses.
How secure are you?
Below is my story and what I did to make a change and how you, the California State Employee, can do it too!
Although I have never been a California State Employee I have worked for several very large companies and thought I had security.
About 2 years ago I was laid off from a Fortune 100 company. At the time I was devastated, confused, angry, and scared. I felt I was a good employee, earning a good salary, and I was looking forward to a long career with this company. But I guess I was living in a fantasy world. I quickly realized that I wasn't a person but a number. A51053. That was my number. That was the number that HR always asked me for as did my computer when I logged on.
Sound familiar? This was the second time I had been laid off in my adult working career.
Career?
The security of working for a large company(65,000 employee's)...gone!
All a fallacy.
Although I was angry at the company I was more angry at myself for letting this happen, again, and for being unprepared. I vowed never to let that happen.
I knew I had to do something.
I vowed that I would not become another number that could be laid off or asked to take a paycut. And If that did happen I would be prepared.
I started talking with friends of mine who never seemed to have any financial concerns. Both are multi-millionaires and doing very well. Never seemed to have the same financial concerns as me. So what was going on? How did they become so rich, time, and financially free?
WHAT WERE THEY DOING THAT I WAS NOT?
Why was I stressed over finances and they didn't seem to have a care in the world?
While I was choosing which debt to pay, with my limited funds, they were taking vacations.
What they taught me opened my eyes! And I will teach you, the California State Employee, what they do and how you can do it too!
